---- — SALEM — A tour bus driver was cited by police for striking two parked cars Tuesday afternoon near Salem Common.

The bus driver was involved in a similar incident last May, according to police.

Police said there was extensive damage to both cars, which were parked near the Common and about 500 yards apart.

The driver “freely admitted” he struck one vehicle, but denied hitting the second, according to police. However, a witness told police she saw the bus strike the other car, a Honda Accord, minutes earlier and continue driving.

Police made contact with the driver in front of The Salem Witch Museum.

The bus driver, George James Jr., 62, who had a New Hampshire driver’s license, was given a court summons for a charge of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and was also cited for failure to use caution while turning.
