Police: Man threatened with pellet gun

SALEM — Police say a Valley Street man was arrested yesterday after he threatened a housemate with a pellet gun during a confrontation about him smoking in their residence.

Jason Michael Dion, 31, of 75 Valley St., Salem, was arrested on charges of assault by dangerous weapon, threatening to commit a crime and violating the city’s ordinance on imitation firearms. He was also wanted on two outstanding warrants.

Police responded to Dion’s address after a 3:21 p.m. report that somebody had threatened a man with a firearm, according to the incident log.

It turned out Dion had been smoking a cigarette on a lower level of the house when another tenant confronted him about it, said Lt. Mary Butler.

During the confrontation, Dion brought out the realistic-looking pellet gun, pointed it at the victim and “threatened to come upstairs and get him,” said Butler.

Dion was arrested without incident.

Police seized the pellet gun.

No injuries were reported.
