Police took a report at 2:01 p.m. of a previous hit and run accident in front of a Hazel Street home. The incident took place between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday. The resident said his 2005 Toyota Camry had been sideswiped and the driver’s side mirror knocked off.

Police responded at 3:33 p.m. to a report of a hit and run with a bus at 77 Willson St. The Salem driver who struck the bus and left, thinking there was no damage, was found at home on Lawrence Street. There was no visible damage to either vehicle.

Police took a report of a hit-and-run accident at 540 Loring Ave. and Periwinkles food shop at 3:47 p.m. A witness took down the plate number of the vehicle involved, which came back belonging to a Swampscott woman.

Matthew Jervinis, 41, of 361/2 Buffum St., Salem, was arrested at 8:53 p.m. and charged with domestic assault and threatening to commit a crime.

Police investigated a report that someone left without paying a bill at the Lobster Shanty, 25 Front St., at 11:58 p.m. A man told the bartender he was going out for a smoke but instead began to leave the area. The manager followed the man to the Essex Street pedestrian mall but lost him. The manager has a video of the incident he plans to provide police.


A Visa credit card, $5 in cash and a pair of sunglasses were reported stolen from a 2013 Infinity G37X on Ord Street at 7:35 a.m.

At 8:50 a.m., a woman came to the station at 56 Margin St. to report her prescription medications were stolen from the Lifebridge shelter the day before.

Police responded to the courthouse at 56 Federal St. at 11:55 a.m. for a report of a woman who brought a knife and drug paraphernalia into court. Court officers had the woman stopped at the metal detector with her handbag emptied out. Police found a folding knife, with a 3-inch-long blade, a rolled marijuana cigarette and a glass pipe filled with marijuana. Police cited her for violating the city knife ordinance and $100 for possession of class D substance under an ounce.
