Police: Masked assailants beat, rob man

SWAMPSCOTT — Police say a Lynn man was hospitalized early yesterday morning after being attacked on his way home by assailants in ski masks.

The attack happened near 95 Paradise Road at 2:18 a.m., according to a press release from Officer Tim Cassidy. Two or three males — clad in black and wearing masks — snuck up behind the man as he walked toward his house, threw him to the ground and demanded money.

“The suspects struck the victim in the head and in the ribs with an object believed to be a bat,” Cassidy said. The victim sustained bruises to his head, forearm and wrist.

A gold chain and an iPhone 4 were reportedly stolen during the incident.

Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

Police are investigating the incident and encourage anyone with information to contact them at 781-595-1111.
