Man's bathroom break sits poorly with Salem hotel

SALEM — Some take longer than others, but management at the Hawthorne Hotel finally decided to call police when a man simply wouldn't leave the toilet.

The night manager told the responding patrolman at 1:51 a.m. yesterday that the fellow had been in the ground-floor restroom "for a period of time and will not come out."

Police ventured inside of the facility to confront the individual, who told them that he had fallen asleep on the toilet.

He was issued a no-trespass order and seen off the premises. Police say the same man had been noted in previous incidents involving public drinking.
