Beverly's Harty, Flaherty chosen as Moynihan Student-Athletes of the Month for September

Two of Beverly High School’s outstanding student-athletes, girls soccer standout Caitlin Harty and football superstar Brendan Flaherty, have been selected as Moynihan Lumber 2012-13 Student-Athletes of the Month for September.

Caitlin, a junior, is the No. 1 ranked student in her class of 312 students. Her grade point average is 4.7348 and she takes all honors classes. She is also taking Advanced Placement Chemistry as a junior. Caitlin had a terrific month on the soccer pitch, recording 16 goals with 6 assists in just six games. A Northeastern Conference all-star last fall, Caitlin has also run two seasons of track at Beverly High.

Brendan, a senior captain for the Panthers’ football team, is ranked 32nd in his senior class and holds an impressive 4.0425 GPA. He is being recruited in both football and lacrosse by many Ivy League and NESCAC schools and is an all-star and a captain in all three of his sports, including winter track. So far this season, Brendan leads Beverly High with 371 rushing yards on and four touchdowns on 42 carries. He has also thrown a touchdown pass, caught two TDs (on 3 receptions for 100 yards), returned a punt for a touchdown and has run back two interceptions for scores, including an 88-yarder against Winthrop as Beverly has gotten off to a 4-0 start.
