Police report spate of car break-ins in Beverly

BEVERLY — Police say at least five vehicles were burglarized in a relatively small area bisected by Dodge Street on Wednesday night.

Most of the break-ins were reported Thursday morning, beginning with a 4:38 a.m. report that the window of a vehicle at 191 Brimbal Ave. had been smashed and a purse stolen from inside.

Next came a 5:36 a.m. report that a computer and a suitcase were stolen from a vehicle that had its window smashed at 10 Beatrice Road, and a 6:16 a.m. report that a vehicle at 28 Nelson Ave. had a suitcase stolen from it after another window-smashing.

Additionally, police received a 7:33 a.m. report that a window on a vehicle at 6 Oakhurst Road had been broken in an attempted break-in, and a vehicle at 18 Elnew Ave. was reported to have been burglarized at 8:34 a.m.

Officers received another report of an overnight vehicle burglary at 4 Gary Ave. at 8:29 p.m. on Thursday night.

Officer Dave Costa said it was safe to assume that the break-ins were related. He also said they were likely related to the larceny of a red pickup truck from Brimbal Avenue that same night.

No arrests have made and the incidents are under investigation.
