---- — SALEM — Whoever burglarized an Orchard Street house earlier this week apparently fixed themselves a meal in the process.
Police received a 4:12 p.m. report on Wednesday that a home on Orchard Street had been broken into through a bulkhead at some point between 4 p.m. Sunday and that day at 3:30 p.m., according to the police log.
A responding officer determined that a black trench coat and a specialized mountain bike worth $300 to $500 had been stolen. The bike had been stored in a shed in the property’s backyard.
The officer also determined that food had been left out on a table after the burglary, and dirty pots and pans had been left in the kitchen sink.
“It appears that the unknown person(s) made themselves a meal,” police wrote.
