Beverly

Monday

A Nursery Street woman reported at 4:55 p.m. that someone had used her credit card in Saugus and Boston without authorization. "She was advised to contact those police departments and file reports ... where the crimes took place," according to the log.

Tuesday

Police towed a vehicle on Broadway at 9:19 a.m. after it was left unattended with three wheels and the fourth corner of the SUV supported by a jack. "Due to the fact that this was parked on a public way with heavy vehicle and foot traffic and on a jack on a declining stretch of roadway, this presented a substantial public safety hazard," according to the police report.

Officer Stephen Collins recovered three stolen Apple computers at 9:51 a.m. in front of a Madison Avenue address.

A driver on Rantoul Street reported a smashed rear window at 1:09 p.m.

Peabody

Monday

In an incident logged at 3:23 p.m., a caller told police of finding a Shih Tzu wearing a pink rhinestone collar. Quickly, the owner was located and the dog returned.

Police responded at 4:14 p.m. to a report of dirt bikes on the Eastman Gelatine field off Washington Street. As happened in the recent past, the bikers were seen but could not be reached because the gate was closed. Later, they were reported as gone from the area.

The $3,000 Phone Zone sign on Main Street was reported damaged at 4:31 p.m. "Sign was damaged after (1 a.m.) last Friday," according to the police report. Officers spoke with nearby residents.

Jose Chavez-Lopez, 21, of 183 Chatham St., Lynn, was arrested by Officer Justin Cecil on County Street at 5:42 p.m. and will face charges of driving without a license and a marked lanes violation. Another man will be summonsed for allowing Chavez-Lopez to drive without a license.

Police reported at 8:46 p.m. that two small brush fires on Sunset Drive were brought under control.

Tuesday

At 8:48 a.m., residents on Fulton Street complained of someone going into their yards. Police found a man who said he was looking for cans. He was told to "stay out of people's yards."

A syringe was found at 8:50 a.m. under the firebox at Lowell Street and Regal Terrace.

A person cited for having an unvaccinated and unlicensed dog told the animal control officer that she now lives in Lynn and the dog lives in Byfield. She was told that the citation stands nonetheless, and she was obliged to pay $75 at 9:31 a.m.

A report at 1:10 p.m. of a man slumped over a fence at Lowell and Anita streets turned out to be someone "stretching his back."

A couple on Parsons Street will be cited after the second complaint in a year over their barking dogs, both from different people, according to a log notation at 1:56 p.m.

A man complained at 3 p.m. that his DJ equipment had been stolen from his van on Buxton Street.

Salem

Monday

Police responded to a complaint at 4:45 p.m. of a drunken man in front of the Walgreens on New Derby Street. The man was told "to keep quiet and wait for his bus out in front of the store," according to the police report.

After being flagged down by a homeowner at 5:34 p.m., Patrolmen John Burke and Derek Sears escorted two homeless men off land at Verdon Street. The two had tents and said they had "been living there for some time with a third party," according to the police report. They were told to have the third man come back for his tent.

Francis Bennett, 21, of Lynch Street, Salem (no street number listed) was stopped on Prince Street at 5:48 p.m. after Patrolmen Deni Gaito and Rafael Gonzalez noticed his broken taillight. They soon learned, according to the police log, that he was also driving with a revoked license, and he was arrested as a result.

The MBTA train was halted at 6:04 after police got warnings about kids walking into the downtown tunnel. Patrolmen Gilbert Priddy and John Burke walked the length of the tunnel but found no one. Train service was then resumed.

Two girls caught trying to shoplift a $10 hair care product at the CVS on Essex Street were turned over to their mothers at 6:21 p.m.

Michael McCausland, 32, of 272 June St., Fall River, was arrested at 7:49 p.m. and will be charged with failing to signal while turning and driving after his license was suspended. McCausland was pulled over for the former infraction by Patrolmen Deni Gaito and Rafael Gonzalez. A passenger in the car was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Unused hypodermic needles — but not drugs — were found in the car.

Sgt. Harry Rocheville commented at 8:29 p.m. on a patrol of the Leslie's Retreat Walkway, noting, "There are still numerous lights out that illuminate the area. ... The lack of lighting creates a serious public safety issue for residents."

Cameron Crandall, 20, of Harbor Avenue, Marblehead (no street number listed), was arrested at 9:46 p.m. and charged with drunken driving at Jefferson Avenue and Cleveland Street. According to police, Crandall failed a number of sobriety tests and responded to a request to hand over his registration by giving the police officer a scratch ticket. Sgt. Richard Gagnon and Patrolmen Derek Sears and Gilbert Priddy participated in the arrest. Police say they observed Crandall driving erratically before stopping him.

Tuesday

At 12:44 a.m., police took a report of an SUV that made its way down Proctor Street banging into things. Police believe the "dark-colored" vehicle ran into a telephone pole, dislodging large splinters and two underground cables. The driver soon recovered enough to keep going but wasn't able, apparently, to travel more than 25 feet before hitting something else, bumping into a resident's Honda Civic, leaving a small dent. Police looked for a vehicle with front-end damage but were unable to locate one.

Bienvendido Mancevo, 52, of 13 Nancy St., Lynn, was arrested at 8:32 a.m. on a charge of trespassing by Sgt. Kate Stephens at the Highland Avenue Shaw's market. "I am aware of the ongoing problem with day laborers loitering in the area," Stephens wrote in her report. Mancevo, one of roughly 30 men in the area, lingered near "No Trespassing" signs in English and Spanish before trying to walk away.

A woman complained at noon that she forgot her silver chain and cross pendant and a white-gold claddagh ring after a Monday visit to Electric Beach tanning. When she returned the chain was given back, having been turned in by "an unknown female who tanned after the victim." The claddagh ring remains lost.

Tipped off by an email, police visited a man about the Maine license plates on his truck. He told Lt. Robert Preczewski that he owns property in Maine. He also told him he has a Massachusetts driver's license, lives in Salem, votes in Salem and files Massachusetts resident income tax. "I told him I would give him time to register the vehicle as required," says the police report filed at 11:43 a.m. The man will also be cited "for registration of (a motor vehicle) improperly to avoid taxes."

Brian McClory, 26, of 25 Harbor St., Salem, was arrested at 2:28 p.m. and will be charged with disturbing the peace and resisting arrest after his son's welfare was called into question by the boy's grandmother and great-grandmother. The pair told police they'd left the child with his father, but grew concerned at the filthy state of his apartment and the fact that the child did not want to stay. When police enquired, they say, McClory was hostile and tried to prevent them from checking on the welfare of the child — who could be seen crying for his grandmother. McClory was said to shout vulgarities at the police while holding his son. "At no point after Mr. McClory was placed under arrest did he ask about the wellbeing of his child," notes the police report. Patrolmen Thomas Pelletier and Edward Vaillancourt made the arrest. McClory also had an outstanding warrant. The child went back to his grandmother.

A receptionist from the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home complained at 3:38 p.m. that a 90-year-old resident was receiving pornographic material in the mail. The "resident's family would like the mailings to stop," according to the police report. Detective Eric Connolly is investigating.

Danvers

Tuesday

Christopher McMahon, 22, 70 Liberty St., Danvers, was arrested at 1:29 p.m. Tuesday by Officer Steve Baldassare on a charge of domestic assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Swampscott

Tuesday

Daniel M. Burns, 24, of 9 Suffolk Ave., Swampscott was arrested by Officer Steven Luck at 9:49 p.m. and will be charged with assault and battery on a police officer, the malicious destruction of property over $250, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Police responded when a woman called to say her daughter was "in a domestic altercation at her boyfriend's residence," according to the police log. On the scene, police first reported the suspect hiding in the residence. Then, they added that he was "located in the basement" where "he assaulted officers and resisted arrest."
