Downtown bazaar in Peabody this weekend

PEABODY — The Peabody downtown celebration and sidewalk bazaar will take place this Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street. The event will feature an appearance by former New England Patriots quarterback Steve Grogan.

The celebration is a senior citizen appreciation day. Seniors will be offered complimentary refreshments at the Peabody Institute Library. More than 80 businesses and vendors will be offering discounts and raffles for all.

Live entertainment by 13 performers throughout the day will include performances by Amanda McCarthy, The Carrtunes Trio, and Familiar Strangers with Todd Graham and Kenny Nestle. Sidewalk food vendors include Santoro’s, Raices, Maki Sushi Bar, Gallo Nero, and China Corner. In addition, there will be food trucks, including Makin Jamaican, Lady Jayne’s Gourmet Popcorn, Yasso, and Mess Haul.

Families can enjoy face painting and performances by K.I.C.K. Karate, magician Eddie Gardner of Diamonds Magic, and the Yellow Jackets gymnasts. The Peabody Fire Department’s Engine One will come to the bazaar.

The bazaar is co-sponsored by the newly formed Peabody Downtown Association and the Peabody Institute Library.
