Salem's Red Lulu restaurant to relocate downtown

By Bethany Bray

---- — SALEM — The Red LuLu restaurant will move downtown after Halloween.

Restaurant ownership said yesterday that they will stay open at 94 Lafayette St. through October, then move to 118 Washington St., the current home of Fresh Taste of Asia.

They hope to reopen downtown as soon as possible, possibly this winter, said owner Christopher Jamison.

With the move, Red LuLu will also change its name to Lolita Cocina and Tequila Bar, which matches the restaurant’s sister location on Dartmouth Street in Boston.

The restaurant serves tacos, quesadillas, empanadas and other “Mexican-inspired” fare.

The new Washington Street location will have seating for 110 people inside and a 40-seat seasonal patio. The downtown space is a little bit smaller than the Lafayette Street location but allows for roughly the same number of guests, Jamison said.

“We love being in Salem, and we can’t wait to be right in the heart of it come this winter,” Jamison said yesterday in a press release.
