SALEM — Police say a boyfriend and girlfriend were arrested on multiple drug charges after officers raided their Pope Street apartment yesterday afternoon.
Jose Cruz, 39, of 12 Pope St., Apt. B707, was arrested on a warrant with charges of four counts of distribution of a class B substance, subsequent offense, said Detective Daniel Tucker. The charges were related to Cruz having allegedly sold cocaine to an undercover officer.
Cruz will also face charges of possession of a class A substance with intent to distribute, subsequent offense, and possession of a class B substance with intent to distribute, subsequent offense, Tucker said. These charges stem from the heroin and cocaine police say they seized from Cruz’s residence during the search.
Also arrested was Jennifer Quintero, 28, of the same address, on charges of possession of a class A substance with intent to distribute and possession of a class B substance with intent to distribute, Tucker said. These charges are also a result of the heroin and cocaine allegedly seized from the apartment she shared with Cruz.
Tucker declined to say exactly how much heroin and cocaine was seized, but he said small plastic bags and scales were also found.
The arrest and search warrants were executed shortly before 5 p.m. and followed a monthlong investigation into Cruz that was led by Tucker.
Assisting in the investigation were detectives Charlene Sano, Brian St. Pierre and Eric Connolly, sergeants Jim Page and Kristian Hanson, Lt. Stephen Bona and Capt. Thomas Griffin.
