SALEM — Police say a 22-year-old woman was arrested yesterday after she flagged down a sergeant in a police vehicle on Salem Street and offered him oral sex for $20.
Ann Marie Resciniti, of 31 Salem St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of prostitution.
Detective Sgt. Kristian Hanson was on his way to the station for his 4 p.m. to midnight shift about 3:40 p.m. yesterday afternoon when he decided to cut through Salem Street because he was afraid the traffic on Lafayette Street would make him late to work, he said.
As Hanson made his way down the street, he was flagged down by a woman who approached his unmarked vehicle and came up to the window. Although Hanson wasn’t wearing a uniform at the time, he was wearing his badge and gun, he said.
“I was under the impression that she recognized my vehicle and me and wanted to make a police report,” Hanson said.
Instead, the woman offered Hanson oral sex “or anything I wanted” for a fee, prompting him to inform her that he was a police officer and that she was under arrest, he said.
“She realized who she was speaking with, and at that point it was too late,” Hanson said.
Hanson called for another police unit to bring Resciniti to the station, then continued on his way to work. Resciniti was being held at the station on $40 bail last night.
