Police: Speed may be cause of Beverly motorcycle fatality

BEVERLY — Police say it appears speed was the cause of a fatal motorcycle accident on Sohier Road Sunday afternoon.

In Hyok Pak, 24, of Lynn, was pronounced dead after being transported to Beverly Hospital. The accident happened near the intersection of Tozer Road at 1:14 p.m.

Witnesses told police that Pak passed them on Sohier Road at a high rate of speed, according to police Lt. Michael Devlin.

“Witnesses saw the motorcycle veer to the right, striking the curb,” Devlin said yesterday. “It wobbled briefly before the driver hit a light pole.”

Pak was the only person involved in the crash, police said.

Paramedics gave Pak medical attention on the scene, but he was pronounced dead later at the hospital, Devlin said.

A state police reconstruction team assisted in the investigation, he said.
