---- — BEVERLY — Police are investigating two bizarre incidents early yesterday morning in which a vehicle with a possible bullhorn disturbed residents — in one instance announcing that people on Hale Street had to evacuate their homes because of a bomb.
A be-on-the-lookout alert was issued for a white newer-model Nissan Altima after a School Street resident reported at 1:01 a.m. that the vehicle apparently had a bullhorn, through which somebody had yelled “various obscenities and racist comments,” according to the incident log. The vehicle was last seen heading toward Rantoul Street.
Minutes later, a second call came in from a resident at 193 Hale St. who hadn’t seen the vehicle but had been awoken by a siren or alarm and a voice stating “they were the police and to evacuate their homes due to a bomb.”
Another be-on-the-lookout alert was issued after the second incident, police said.
Officers checked both areas but were unable to locate the vehicle.
The incidents are under investigation.
