Heard Around Town: Beverly family stars in new commercial

BEVERLY — Salem Five may have Dustin Pedroia, but Eastern Bank has the Simeone family.

The Simeones, who live in Beverly, are the stars of a new commercial that began airing during Red Sox games on NESN this week.

The 30-second ad, designed to promote Eastern Bank’s mobile banking, shows Rosemarie Simeone and her three children at a baseball game at Harry Ball Field in Beverly, eating at Woodman’s in Essex, and playing at Crane Beach in Ipswich, among other activities.

Simeone used to work at Conover Tuttle Pace, the bank’s Boston-based ad agency.

Angie fans

The American Idol Tour might have been plagued by weak attendance and canceled shows this summer, but that didn’t stop a large contingent of Beverly people from heading to Agganis Arena in Boston Monday night to watch hometown favorite Angie Miller on the tour’s latest stop.

Our spies tell us that the crowd included one of Angie’s biggest boosters, Beverly High Principal Sean Gallagher, who was there with his two daughters.

Miller, by the way, will serve as a spokeswoman for the seventh annual New England Walk4Hearing in Boston on Oct. 27. Miller is affected by partial hearing loss.

Hair pin match

They’re back.

The unlikely partnership between professional wrestling and the Cove Community Center continues when the East Corning Street site hosts its second New England Championship Wrestling show on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m.

The press release touts a “title vs. hair match” in which “Sensational” Scott Levesque will become the NECW television champion if he wins, and will have his head shaved in the ring if he loses.

Gotta love those pro wrestling press releases.

House money

The Beverly Housing Authority has been awarded $181,820 by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for its 168 federal public housing units.
