Salem school board forum Sept. 10

SALEM — Save the date: the Salem Education Foundation will host a forum with the candidates for School Committee on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

The event will start at 7 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club, 13 Hawthorne Blvd., and will be moderated by Karen Andreas, regional publisher of North of Boston Media Group, which includes The Salem News.

Eight candidates are running for three School Committee seats this fall; a preliminary election on Sept. 17 will winnow the field to six candidates.

School board incumbents Janet Crane, Lisa Lavoie and Brendan Walsh are running for re-election. Challengers are Katherine Casiglia, Rachel Hunt, Richard Johnson, Patrick Schultz and Kenneth Sawicki.

Spanish translation will be available upon request at the Sept. 10 event.
