A 10:15 a.m. report that a vehicle had struck a gas pump at the Hess station at 295 Derby St. resulted in the arrest of Jasen R. Walsh, 33, of 10 Conant St., Salem, on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, failure to use care in backing and operating a motor vehicle without the registration in possession.
A Church Street woman reported at 12:53 p.m. that somebody had stolen a gold chain with a green stone on it from her apartment.
A woman reported at 12:38 p.m. that somebody had stolen her pocketbook at Murphy’s, 300 Derby St., the previous Saturday night.
A man reported at 12:31 p.m. that somebody had extensively keyed his BMW as it was parked on Looney Avenue overnight.
A 2:50 p.m. report of a suspicious vehicle brought police to Sargent Street, where they determined a man was “taking a nap after lunch.”
The owner of the HMA car wash at 72 North St. reported at 3:10 p.m. that he believed an ex-employee had stolen keys to the vacuum machines and then change from them.
After receiving complaints about people on Naples Road not cleaning up “dog dung,” an officer posted four warning signs in the area about the issue, according to a 3:18 p.m. log item.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police received a report that a 21-year-old woman had been threatened with a firearm by a woman dressed in all black near 52 Peabody St. Police located the suspect in the parking lot behind a nearby Wendy’s, but officers then determined that no threats with a firearm had actually occurred. An officer said it was possible the woman who reported the incident could be summonsed to court on a charge of filing a false report.
A Gordon College student lost his bearings in the vicinity of Round Pond after the sun set between 7 and 8 p.m. and contacted police for help, an officer said. With his cellphone dying, the student was guided back via trails and officers then transported him to his residence.
