---- — SALEM — An 18-year-old Salem woman has pleaded not guilty to charges that she took part in the beating of a younger teen who was lured to the Salem commuter rail depot earlier this month, an incident that was recorded on a cell phone camera and posted on YouTube, police said.
Alexandra Felix, of 22 Grove St., was arrested and arraigned in court Thursday afternoon on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and conspiracy.
A Salem District Court judge released Felix on her own recognizance, with conditions that include a GPS bracelet and 8 p.m. curfew, as well as no contact with the alleged victim and daily check-ins with a probation officer.
Felix and three others, two 16-year-old girls and a 15-year-old girl, were charged after the victim, 17, and her mother reported to police on Sept. 7 that the girl had been lured to the depot and then attacked, according to court papers.
The 15-year-old girl called the victim and indicated that she wanted to settle a dispute from several months earlier, and wanted to hug and make up, according to Patrolman Phil Verrette’s report. The girl also warned, however, that there were three other girls who wanted to jump the victim, the officer wrote.
The two initially agreed to meet at Salem Common, then at the 7-Eleven on Norman Street. Then, the 15-year-old called from the depot, telling the victim to meet her there, according to the report.
The victim and her boyfriend arrived at the station and the girl was approached by a large group of other teenagers coming from the area of the stairs. As she asked if they were there to jump her, the 15-year-old said “no,” just as a 16-year-old girl started throwing punches.
The girl was knocked to the ground, where Felix began kicking her in the head.
Felix then told friends of the victim that they should break up the fight.
The victim’s boyfriend, asked why he didn’t intervene, said he believed that the male teens there would then jump him.
Another friend eventually helped the girl up, as Felix asked, “How was that kick in the face?” the report says.
Another 16-year-old girl was recording the fight with a cell phone. Police say she then posted the video to YouTube.
A status hearing is scheduled for Monday in Salem District Court.
