Grant helps with new operating rooms

BEVERLY — A $100,000 grant from Danversbank will help Beverly Hospital build three new operating rooms.

Beverly Hospital announced this week that the Danversbank Charitable Foundation has awarded the grant for the hospital's operating room expansion project.

Construction began in March and is expected to be completed by mid-September.

Beverly Hospital currently has seven operating rooms, six of which have not been renovated in 20 years and one that is smaller and reserved for urological procedures.

The hospital conducts about 6,600 inpatient and outpatient surgeries per year.

Beverly Hospital has hired architectural firm MorrisSwitzer of Boston and construction firm William A. Berry & Sons of Danvers for the project. It is continuing to raise money for the renovations.
