Police: Salem man assaults 11-year-old son

SALEM — Police say a local man was arrested on domestic assault charges last night after he assaulted his 11-year-old son.

Steven Nassor, 53, of 33 Upham St., Salem, was charged with two counts of domestic assault and battery on a child with bodily injury.

Nassor was arrested at 6:47 p.m. at 15 Hancock St. in Peabody after Salem police issued a be-on-the-lookout alert following a report of the assault late yesterday afternoon, Peabody police said. According to the alert, Nassor was supposed to be driving a blue 1997 Mercury Cougar registered to a man who lived at that address.

Salem police said Nassor would likely be spending the weekend at the police station.

No further details about the circumstances or location of the alleged assault were available last night.
