---- — SALEM — City Councilor Kevin Carr announced today he will not run for re-election this fall.
Carr was elected to his first council term in November 2011 after serving six years on the Salem School Committee.
He is the only incumbent councilor who won't be on the ballot in November. Carr, 35, is one of four at-large councilors in Salem.
Carr, who took a new job recently and will be getting married in August, said he decided not to run because of the office's enormous time commitment.
"I think that it's been a productive two years (on the council)," he said. "I feel Salem is moving in the right direction and will continue to do so."
"... I have been blessed to work with some great people on both the School Committee and the council," he said. "I feel good about the impact I was able to make."
