1 injured in I-95 crash

PEABODY — A fiery crash closed Route 95 early this morning.

Just before 2 a.m., a Jeep collided with a dump truck from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and caught fire on Interstate 95 northbound, between Routes 1 and 114, said Massachusetts State Trooper Zachary Bolcome.

One person was injured in the accident and taken to Mass General Hospital. Bolcome didn't know whether the injured person had been in the Jeep or the MassDOT truck.

The Jeep was "engulfed," said Bolcome.  All lanes of Route 95 were closed briefly.

The victim's injuries were not fatal, Bolcome said.
