Stolen tools were reported on May Street, as logged at 10:01 a.m.
Frances E. Pena, 46, of 620 Reflections Circle, Casselberry, Fla., was arrested at 9:52 p.m. on Courtney Drive by Officer Mark Panjwani on charges of domestic assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon. Police say Pena, whose weapon was logged as a “shod foot,” had come north to visit family for the holidays.
A fire reported on Rantoul Street at 7:09 a.m. was quickly extinguished by the Beverly Fire Department.
A call at 4:51 p.m. sent police to the Plummer Home for Boys, where an individual will be summonsed on an assault and battery charge.
Nicole Louise Conway, 38, of 245 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested at 10:26 p.m. at her address on charges of malicious destruction of property, disturbing the peace and being disorderly. Police were called initially over someone “throwing furniture out the window,” according to the log. Responding were Patrolmen Roberson Troncoso, Thomas Cunningham and Jonathan Duzz.
A woman on Bridge Street has seen her green thumb turn into a hot thumb, apparently. Police and the Salem Fire Department responded to smoke at 12:14 a.m. The woman told them “one of her planters located on her porch caught on fire and she put it out,” according to the log. She was “unsure” how it started.
A woman on Essex Street told police at 1:07 a.m. that she was pulling onto Washington Street when she saw a vehicle “coming at her at a high rate of speed,” according to the log. She tried to get out of the way but was struck on her driver’s side. The offending driver took off but apparently he did not get away clean. There were witnesses who said the car was a black Saturn, and they also provided the license number. Police traced that to an address in Milford where there lives a driver owning a black Saturn. Milford police were contacted.
