Debate today, forum tonight feature selectman candidates

Voters in Hamilton and Wenham will have an opportunity today to hear from the candidates for selectman in both towns, as well as candidates in other uncontested races.

The Hamilton Council on Aging is hosting a debate between incumbent Selectman Jeffrey Hubbard and challenger Shawn Farrell this morning at 10 a.m. at the Hamilton Senior Center. At 7 p.m., the local League of Women Voters chapter is hosting a forum at Buker School in Wenham.

Hubbard and Farrell will also participate in tonight’s forum, along with Wenham Selectman Patrick Wilson and challenger Catherine Harrison. The candidates will answer questions from a moderator and the audience. The League of Women Voters said that candidates in other uncontested races in both towns will be asked to introduce themselves and answer one question.

Among the uncontested races, Stacey Metternick and Lawrence Swartz are seeking two empty seats on the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School Committee, and Dianne Kaplan Bucco is a write-in candidate for the town clerk vacancy in Wenham.

Tonight’s forum will be broadcast live on Hamilton-Wenham Community Access Television. The Hamilton Senior Center is at 299 Bay Road in Hamilton, and Buker School is at 1 School St. in Wenham.
