Voters will decide Cutler School heating replacement project today

HAMILTON — Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. today as voters weigh replacement of the heating system at Cutler School.

The town would have to exceed its normal borrowing limits under Proposition 21âÑ2 to pay the town's $596,000 share of the $1.5 million project.

The state's School Building Authority has promised to reimburse the regional school district $652,000, and Wenham voters will cast their ballots next month on their share of the bill.

Passage of the bill by a simple majority of voters will result in the average property tax bill increasing by between $25 and $35 annually over the 10-year period of indebtedness.

All precincts vote at Winthrop Elementary School, 325 Bay Road.
