SALEM — The Health Department will hold an H1N1 influenza clinic for children on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
The free swine flu vaccinations will be administered from 4 to 8 p.m. at Salem High School. Children must be residents and between 6 months and 18 years of age. Proof of residency will be required.
"The clinic will be first-come, first-served," said David Greenbaum, the acting health agent. "We'll vaccinate as many people as we can."
The city held an earlier H1N1 clinic targeting pregnant women, anyone who has household contact with a pregnant woman or anyone who is a caregiver of a child under 6 months of age. Anyone in those categories can also attend the Dec. 9 clinic, Greenbaum said.
Health officials said many children may already have received swine flu shots from their pediatricians, but it's also likely many have not. This clinic is being held because school-age children are a key age group.
"We're targeting kids that age because it does spread quickly through the schools," Greenbaum said.
