Crash sends car flying into horse paddock

DANVERS | A driver was taken to the hospital after her car struck two telephone poles more than a mile apart, then flew over a wall in front of Essex Aggie and landed on its roof in a horse paddock.

Students at the Maple Street school witnessed the crash early this afternoon, and many ran out to help. The driver's condition and the cause of the accident were not immediately available. Police said her injuries were serious. Witnesses said the driver was alone in the car. Firefighters had to pry her out of the wreckage with the Jaws of Life extrication tool.

More details will be in Thursday's paper.
