Kindergartner rides home from school in style

BEVERLY — Jake Ribreau, 6, got a ride home from school yesterday that he won't soon forget.

The North Beverly Elementary School kindergartner won a ride in a city firetruck during a raffle at the Boo Fest fundraiser for the PTO on Halloween. There were gift baskets and other items, but Jake had his eye on the truck ride and was fortunate enough to win it.

While most kids rode the bus home, Fire and Rescue truck No. 1 — the city's brand-new one — picked up Jake and his dad, Dan Ribreau, in front of the school yesterday, an early release day. Firefighter Chad McCormack, who was driving, took them to their house on Cumnock Street.

"He's pretty excited," his mom, Diana Ribreau, reports, "and so are we." She said the ride is "certainly a memory never to be forgotten."
