BEVERLY — The mayor and 15 other elected officials will take the oath of office when the city holds its Inaugural Ceremonies on Monday, Jan. 4.
The public is invited to attend the event, which is scheduled to start at noon in the City Council chamber on the third floor of City Hall.
Mayor Bill Scanlon, nine city councilors and six School Committee members will be sworn into office, and Scanlon will give his inaugural address. The ceremonies will include musical selections by the Beverly High School Vocal Ensemble and the presentation of colors by the Beverly High School Junior ROTC Marine Corps Color Guard.
The newly elected officials who will take the oath of office are city councilors Michael Cahill, Paul Guanci and James Latter, and School Committee member Kris Silverstein.
The returning councilors are Patricia Grimes, Maureen Troubetaris, Wesley Slate, Kevin Hobin, Donald Martin and Judith Cronin. The returning School Committee members are David Manzi, Paul Manzo, Karen Fogarty, Annemarie McNulty-Cesa and Maria Decker.
Scanlon will be starting his ninth two-year term.
Former mayoral aide Dan Murphy will provide the welcome, and local attorney Anthony Kline will serve as master of ceremonies. Refreshments will be served after the ceremonies.
