Future Beverly High School is taking shape

BEVERLY — By this time next year, students will be getting ready to move into the new high school.

Construction is on schedule, and the plan is to have everything in place by the time kids return from their holiday break in January 2011.

The outside of the building is nearing completion, and everything has been sealed so that work can continue throughout the winter, schools Superintendent Jim Hayes said.

They have space heaters set up and are steadily working on the interior. The walls are in on the first and second floors, and some of the final doors have been installed. Workers have even started painting some of the walls.

The orange-and-blue colors will be prevalent throughout the building, in muted, earthy tones, and each floor will be a different color.

"The rooms are starting to take shape," Hayes said.

Hayes has started walking through with teachers and staff, showing them their new spaces so they can start visualizing the layout, and begin mentally decorating.

"Everyone is excited," Hayes said.
