IPSWICH — The young wolf that escaped yesterday from the Wolf Hollow sanctuary is back home.
Nina, a 5-year-old female wolf, returned late last night, according to Ipswich Police. It had been on the loose for about four hours and did not pose a danger to the public, according to police.
“I guess it came back scared, but it returned on its own,” said Lt. Daniel Moriarty.
Police said they did not know how the wolf escaped, but said it got loose between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., setting off a search by the town’s animal control officer and officials from Wolf Hollow.
It returned about 10:50 p.m., police said.
Wolf Hollow is a nonprofit wildlife sanctuary dedicated to the preservation of wolves through education.
