BEVERLY — Police said a 35-year-old mother hosted a party for her teenage children and their friends Saturday night that sent one teen to the hospital with alcohol poisoning.
Tiffany Clark of 903 Manor Road was summonsed to court on charges of procuring alcohol for minors and a social-host violation, after a late-night party prompted numerous complaints by neighbors in the large apartment complex off Trask Road.
The party, which went into Sunday, generated numerous complaints about youths disturbing the neighborhood.
Police learned about the 16-year-old girl being taken to the hospital after Patrolman Stephen Cecchini arrived at the apartment at 12:45 a.m. Sunday.
Clark initially told police her daughter had four to five friends over.
Cecchini noted in his report that Clark "seemed not to care" when informed by police about the teenager's hospital treatment, according to police Lt. Tim Hegarty.
Once he was allowed to enter the home, Cecchini found Clark to be unsteady on her feet and slurring her words. She spoke "somewhat incoherently to the questions being asked," according to the police report.
Inside the home, police found several teenagers inside and police contacted their parents. Police said other partygoers left the apartment prior to officers' arrival. At the home, police reported finding empty beer cans and 75 to 100 empty Jell-O shot cups.
While police were in the home, police said Clark's condition worsened and she fell. Police called an ambulance, and she was taken to Beverly Hospital.
Police said the hospitalized girl told police there were "so many kids you couldn't move in the apartment" and that Clark was "pouring alcohol and doing Jell-O shots."
Clark's children stayed with the parents of a friend and police notified the state Department of Children and Families.
