SALEM — Saturday is a big day for book lovers.
SalemRecycles is holding a free book and media swap from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first floor of the former school at St. Anne's Church, 290 Jefferson Ave. Participants are invited to bring unwanted books — even textbooks — CDs, DVDs and videos.
Items can be dropped off tomorrow from 6 to 7 p.m. or brought on Saturday.
The public is invited whether or not they are donating items. For more information, call Julie Rose at 978-619-5679.
SalemRecycles is the city's volunteer recycling committee.
On the same day, the Salem Athenaeum, 337 Essex St., is holding its annual book sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All books are $2, and all proceeds benefit the private lending library.
There will be hardcover and paperback books in many genres: fiction, nonfiction, mysteries, travel books, biographies and children's literature. Children buying their own books will receive a discount.
Book donations will be accepted through tomorrow. For more information or to volunteer, call the Athenaeum at 978-744-2540.
