Police: Drunken driver had her 3-year-old in car

DANVERS — Police say a woman who was arrested on a drunken-driving charge Sunday night had her 3-year-old boy improperly restrained in the back seat at the time.

Lisa Martinez, 34, of Melrose, was arrested on charges of drunken driving, failure to stop and having a child under 6 without a car seat, according to Lt. Carole Germano.

Martinez was arrested near 70 Water St. around 10 p.m. after an officer saw her take a left turn against a red light and conducted a traffic stop, Germano said.

The boy was wearing a seat belt but was not properly secured in a booster seat, she said.

He was picked up by an adult after Martinez’s arrest.
