Beverly police arrest two men in armed robbery case

BEVERLY — Beverly police arrested two suspects in an armed robbery with a knife that took place at Corner Variety on Hale Street last night.

Stephen Robinson, 21, of Beverly and a 15-year-old male from Beverly were arrested last night on charges of armed robbery while masked.

No injuries were reported.

Police responded to a report of an armed robbery with a knife shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to a statement from Beverly Police. Upon arrival, police learned that a male wearing a mask and brandishing a knife had entered the store and demanded cigarettes.

After obtaining five packs of cigarettes, the suspects fled the scene on foot and were found at Central Cemetery, where they were taken into custody and transported to Beverly Police Station.

Both suspects are being held without bail and are set to be arraigned at Salem District Court this morning.
