Local teens honored by DAR

Two North Shore teens were among nine high school students recently honored with DAR Good Citizen awards by the Cape Ann Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Britta-Marie Galanis of Ipswich High School and Christopher Oo of Hamilton-Wenham High School, both seniors, were selected by their schools for the honor because they embody the qualities of a good citizen.

Oo was also the winner of the group’s essay competition and will go on to the state competition.

Others honored included Morgan Taylor of Gloucester High School, Alyssa Shepard of Manchester Essex Regional High School, Hannah Greene Lorden of Rockport High School, Milica Ivanis of Chelsea High School, Stephanie Gaglini of Saugus High School and Alexis Vaccaro of Winthrop High School.

Each Good Citizen received a pin, an official DAR card and a check at a special luncheon in their honor.
