SALEM — After conducting a three-week narcotics sales investigation, Salem police and the department’s Special Response Unit executed a search warrant yesterday afternoon and arrested a suspect at his North Salem home.
George Costa, 46, of 32 Irving St., was arrested at 4:30 p.m. yesterday on charges of trafficking a class B substance, possession of a class E drug with intent to distribute, and two counts of possession of a class B drug with intent to distribute.
Officers were waiting for Costa outside his home yesterday afternoon, and upon his arrival, executed the search warrant and found 58 grams of cocaine in his apartment bedroom, police said.
According to police, multiple sources provided police with information, which resulted in obtaining a warrant to search Costa’s basement apartment.
Costa is currently being held on $50,000 bail at the Salem police station and is expected to be arraigned Monday morning at Salem District Court, police said.
