Old Salem Jail in search of an artist

SALEM — The restored old Salem Jail is renting luxury apartments and will soon open a public jail exhibit space and a new restaurant.

One part of the development that is often overlooked is the affordable artist space that will be rented to an artist whose work will be displayed in common areas in the restored, 200-year-old jail complex. Applicants must have displayed pieces before in an exhibition and have a recent body of work.

Income limits are $45,100 for one person and up to $51,550 for a two-person household.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. tomorrow. Applications should be submitted to Betsy Merry at Merry Fox Realty, 224 Derby St., Salem.

For more information, call 978-740-0008.
