Police were called to Swampscott Road at 3:41 p.m. where a dispute over an injury sustained on the job led to a pushing complaint against the female employer, alleged to have shoved the injured man's wife. A "no trespass" order resulted.
Alioune N. Seck, 31, of 12 Pope St., Salem, was arrested at 5 p.m. at home by Patrolmen Deni Gaito, Rafael Gonzalez and John Burke on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and destruction of property. A woman claimed Seck had assaulted her, taking her keys from her car and jamming a pair of scissors into her tire. In response, Seck told police he had tried to avoid contact with the woman, but she came to his door twice, punched him in the face (police observed swelling) and she may have stolen his keys, which is why he took hers. Police saw the scissors in plain sight, but he denied using them to puncture the tire.
Evidence of a break-in on Ravenna Avenue drew police at 6:55 p.m. Missing was a flat-screen TV, an Apple computer, electronic equipment and a gold watch. Access was gained through a rear bathroom window. Losses could amount to $2,500.
Knocking on doors could get you arrested, a woman was told on Harbor Street at 7:17 p.m. Especially if you're wandering the halls of your apartment building knocking on doors. The woman told police she was going in for the night.
A woman on Beckett Street complained to police at 8:23 p.m. that her neighbors, in a rented apartment, make noise, take drugs, leave out trash that attracts rodents, and recently bombarded her son and his friends with eggs as they enjoyed the pool. She had to clean up the mess. Police contacted a resident of the nearby apartment and warned him that the occupants need to behave.
Because they think a Salem woman ordered food and never paid for it, a Dracut restaurant keeps harassing her. Police believe they have the wrong number. Salem police called Dracut police for assistance in stopping the harassment.
Saturday
A woman told police at 2:51 a.m. that while at O'Neill's Pub she gave her cellphone to a man so he could add a number to it. Meanwhile, she went off to the doughnut shop for coffee, and when she returned, the man was gone and so was her phone.
Police responded at 8:20 a.m. to the Irving gas station on Highland Avenue on a report of a man passed out in a car. Instead, they found a man vacuuming his car. But it wasn't a wasted trip because a check revealed that the man had an expired license. He was advised not to drive.
A Clifton Road resident told police at 9:21 a.m. that someone had spray-painted the side of his father's car. A kayak at the same address was also sprayed.
Workers at a construction site on Loring Avenue were told at 10:38 a.m. that they weren't allowed to drill into the ledge on weekends. The drilling stopped.
Mark J. Castonguay, 38, of 24 Lynde St., Salem, was arrested at home at 11:32 a.m. by officers Victor Ruiz and Kathleen Costa on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon — a bed, destruction of property, and two counts of assault and battery. The trouble started, according to one of the victims, when her son came into the bedroom without knocking, finding her and Castonguay in bed. The boyfriend responded, according to the report, with insults. He then followed the son into his room, wrestled him briefly and flipped his bed over, injuring the son's ankle with the frame of the bed. He also pushed the mother aside on his way out, according to the police report.
A business on Highland Avenue reported the theft of an 8-foot advertising sign at 2:27 p.m.
A man on Freedom Hollow Road reported the fraudulent use of his credit card in Florida at a Home Depot, the purchase totaling $270.
A woman arrived at the firehouse on Lafayette Street at 3:38 p.m., complaining that she had lost her husband after a bicyclist cut them off on Bridge Street and made a rude comment. It was rude enough that the husband took off after the bicyclist on foot. But the woman was forced to move along in traffic and was unable to find him afterward. While at the station, however, she got a call from her man telling her he had walked back to their home in Beverly. No word on the fate of bicyclist.
Mary Shanna Gaul, 43, of 280 Euclid Ave., Lynn, was arrested at the Highland Avenue Walmart at 4:35 p.m. by Patrolman Derek Sears on a charge of trespass. Gaul, who was also wanted on two outstanding warrants, violated a "no trespass" order at the store, where management complained she has been caught stealing before, according to police.
A mom stood by as the Fire Department rescued a child locked inside a car on North Street at 4:55 p.m.
Verizon was notified at 6:25 p.m. that one of its poles on Curtis Street is no longer upright. A crack was observed at the base.
Patrolmen Deni Gaito and Rafael Gonzalez arrested a juvenile on Ward Street at 7:27 p.m. No other details were given.
Police are seeking a Salem man on a warrant that accuses him of breaking and entering, stealing, and trying to kill the mother of his child by leaving on the gas and not telling her about it. According to the log, the suspect broke into the woman's North Street apartment and put her "in fear for her and their child's safety, causing her to flee her residence for her protection." He is also alleged to have taken a purse, a cellphone and prepaid cards, all totaling about $250 in value. As a final touch, police say, he turned on a gas burner at the stove and went off.
A bicycle was reported stolen from outside a garage on Rosedale Avenue at 8:35 p.m.
A woman on Britannia Circle summoned police at 8:36 p.m. to complain that her neighbor "keeps shocking her through the wall," according to the log. She added that "she does not know how it is happening just that it keeps happening." Police, unable to contact the neighbor, note that they have heard this complaint repeatedly. "All times, there has been nothing found to explain what is causing the problem."
Salem residents Bill L. Barker, 47, of 267 Lafayette St. and Hollie Ann Innis, 43, of 15 Leavitt St. and Victoria Lee Verbanas, 27, of 16 Union St., Beverly, were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. Verbanas was also wanted on an outstanding warrant. This happened after three employees at the 62 Restaurant on Wharf Street reported at 11:11 p.m. that their purses had been stolen from the storage closet. Patrolmen Brian St. Pierre and Robert Cunningham and Sgt. Kristian Hanson participated in the arrest.
Two women tangled in the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot on Washington Street, according to a report received by police at 11:45 p.m. One woman said that words were exchanged regarding a romantic rivalry. At one point, she was slapped by the other woman, an employee of the shop. She responded by punching her and was, in turn, grabbed at the neck. Police advised her of her right to court protection and, in the future, to go elsewhere for doughnuts.

According to the log shortly after midnight, a woman whose Jeep struck a motorcycle at Washington and Derby streets will get a summons for a hit-and-run. Someone got her license plate.
It's best not to grab the long arm of the law, which is what a man did following police efforts to break up a fight outside Rockafellas restaurant at 12:59 a.m. After encountering a crowd and one man with blood on his face, police urged people to get on their way and assumed that they were going. But it soon became apparent they were just moving the fight down the street. Police acted again, and, at this point, someone grabbed the arm of Capt. Brian Gilligan "in an effort to impede his ability to move one of the stragglers along who was hiding in a doorway," according to the log. The grabber, whom police judged as obviously drunk, was taken into protective custody.
A man told police at 1:28 a.m. that he lost his wallet containing documents and $120 in cash "either while at Las Brisas (a restaurant) or while walking home," according to the police report.
A report of "screaming in the woods" near Intervale and Cedar Hill roads turned out to be a party. Police suggested more decorum.
A woman is wanted for violating a protective order and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a shod foot and a bottle, after she allegedly pulled up behind another woman at North and Mason streets, argued, threw a broken bottle at her, dragged her to the ground and kicked her, according to the log at 2:50 a.m.
Joshua J. Travis, 21, of 260 Washington St., Salem, was arrested at 4:11 a.m. on a roof by Patrolmen William Olivieri and Radames Gonzalez for trespassing after he was found lying behind a rooftop air-conditioning unit where he said he was hiding from his girlfriend.
A man blamed a fellow club member when his license plate was reported stolen at 6:35 a.m. while parked outside a veterans club at Derby and Daniels streets. One plate was found in the trash. Another club member had questioned his right to have the veterans plate. Police will check the plate for fingerprints.
After talking with a father and son at 12:56 p.m., police decided to call a state agency. The father is trying to discourage his son from taking marijuana and associating with people he deems undesirable. He told police his son is sometimes violent. He chased his son out of the house Friday while holding a hammer. The son said he was wearing only boxer shorts at the time and found himself sleeping on a boat that night. The father will be summonsed for assault.
Lisa A. Burke, 50, of 193.5 North St., Salem, was arrested at Highland Avenue and Marlborough Road at 1:13 p.m. by Patrolmen William Jennings and Mark Fabiszewski on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The arrest followed a three-car accident. Burke told police, according to the log, "I had one drink and some muscle relaxers about an hour ago." They describe her speech as slurred. She failed two of three field sobriety tests and declined a chemical test at the station.
A smashed car window and a lost purse were reported at the YMCA on Leggs Hill Road at 4 p.m.

A 24-year-old Peabody woman will be summonsed for assault and battery and destruction of property after police were called to her Holten Street address at 2:34 p.m. following a report of a caller's disturbance with her aunt.
A man was summonsed for driving without a license after a stop on Lynnfield Street at 4:37 p.m.
A 37-year-old man will be summonsed for driving after his license was suspended following a stop on Russell Street at 6:17 p.m.
A report at 11:32 p.m. of 20 kids fighting with baseball bats on Symphony Road was likely kids from Lynnfield who never assaulted anyone, according to the log.
A witness told police at 11:58 p.m. that he saw a man in a white truck steal a tailgate from C&C Auto on Route 1. The state police were informed.

Michael J. Selig, 30, of 47 Park St., Haverhill, was arrested on Washington Street at 12:37 a.m. by Officer Sean Dowd on a charge of drunken driving, a second offense, and going the wrong way on a one-way street.
A 33-year-old Peabody woman will be summonsed for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after another woman told police at 9:23 a.m. that "she had a hot coffee thrown on her," according to the log.
Michael McCausland, 32, of 272 June St., Fall River, was arrested at the Northshore Mall Sears at 1:04 p.m. by Officer Mark Saia on a charge of shoplifting and on an outstanding warrant.
A woman was struck by a white SUV on Central Street and subsequently sent to Salem Hospital via Atlantic Ambulance, according to the log at 1:10 p.m., with an arm injury.
A woman on Antrim Road told police at 3:11 p.m. that she put out a gas grill fire herself with a fire extinguisher.
A vehicle in back of Family Fare Restaurant on Lowell Street was reported broken into overnight with a pair of golf clubs taken, according to the log at 3:12 p.m.
A car was reported at 3:56 p.m. to have been broken into at Spinelli's on Route 1.
A jogger told police at 6:11 p.m. that someone threw water on him in the Mount Pleasant area. He was subsequently to be offered an apology, according to the log.
A woman went to the Salem Hospital after she was hit by a vehicle outside of Hannaford on Lowell Street, according to the log at 6:38 p.m.
Police were unable to corral a loose pit bull near Brown School, according to the log at 7:59 p.m. The dog ran into the woods.

A resident on Silverleaf Way reported his tires slashed at 8:14 a.m.
A resident on Beacon Boulevard told police at 9 a.m. that parts of the air conditioner had been stolen.
Firefighters were called at 9:52 a.m. when a mentally ill man set his bedroom on fire.
Macy's at the Northshore Mall told police at 1:55 p.m. that it had caught a shoplifter and would handle the matter itself.
