A crossing guard at West Shore Drive and Jersey Street reported at 7:37 a.m. that a woman in a blue Subaru “threw her hands up in the air and went right through the intersection” while the guard was out in the street with her sign. Nobody was injured.
A Brown Street woman reported at 7:31 p.m. that her wallet had been taken from her purse on Columbus Day and that she’d subsequently received a call from an unidentified female who said she had it. She asked to make arrangements so she could get the wallet back and the woman said she’d call back, but never did.
Police responded to a 6:05 p.m. report of a “strange noise” coming from a basement at 85 Essex St. and determined that an entertainment system there had turned on by itself.
Police at Dodge Street and Arlington Avenue conducted a traffic stop at 7:19 p.m. and arrested William Wood, 30, of 210 Rantoul St., Ipswich, on a charge of possession of a Class B drug (Adderall).
A 4:43 a.m. report of a loud group brought police to 9 Memorial Drive, where they determined there was no basis for the call. “House in complete darkness,” an officer wrote.
Police received a 2:01 p.m. report that a man’s vehicle ran out of gas at 2 Andover St. and that when he returned from getting more, “it was gone.” Police hadn’t reported any tows, so they listed it as stolen. Then the man called back an hour and a half later to report that he’d found it farther down the road. “He stated that it appeared that his vehicle had been pushed out of the way by an unknown party,” an officer wrote.
A Lowell Street woman reported at 3:44 p.m. that jewelry had gone missing from her home.
