Meeting in Salem tonight on Canal Street project

SALEM — The state Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing tonight on the planned Canal Street roadway construction project.

The $6.6 million project is to extend the entire length of Canal Street and include new paving, curbs, sidewalks, traffic signals, street trees, crosswalks and other road improvements.

The 7 p.m. hearing is at the Salem State University Enterprise Center on the central campus.
