Man, 29, charged with indecent assault on child

MARBLEHEAD — A Lynn man was arrested Sunday in front of the Atlantic Avenue CVS on a charge of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

James A. Murphy, 29, 47 Lexington St., Lynn, was described as drunk when he “attempted to grab a young girl,” according to the police report at 7:21 p.m.. She was accompanied by her mother. Murphy was held on $10,000 bail.

CVS personal aided police in detaining the mother and daughter until they could be interviewed by officers.

Responding were officers Michael Everett, Chuck Sinclair, Dennis DeFelice and Timothy Morley.
