Thursday

Police received a 6:58 p.m. report that an erratic motorist struck a sign at Maple and Poplar streets, but they were unable to locate anything suspicious in the area.

Police retrieved a hypodermic needle from the roadway at Seneca Drive and Summer Street, according to a 8:25 p.m. log item.

A Charter Street resident was using a table saw at 11:22 p.m., according to the log.

Friday

A 1:34 p.m. report of a shoplifter at the Walmart at 55 Brooksby Village Drive resulted in the arrest of Edward Phillips, 32, of 69 Lunenburg St., Fitchburg, on a charge of larceny over $250.

Thursday

Police received a 7:34 p.m. report that oxygen tanks had fallen off a truck on Tremont Street.

The Fire Department extinguished a Dumpster fire at 232 Highland Ave. at 8 p.m.

Friday

Police responded to an 8:04 a.m. report that a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle at Washington and Church streets, but no injuries were reported.

A 9:35 a.m. report of a domestic dispute brought officers to 74 Beaver St., where they determined a mother and daughter were arguing over how the mother did laundry.

Friday

Police conducted a traffic stop on Maple Street at 1:28 p.m. and arrested Michael Carey, 52, of 21 Acacia St., Gloucester, on a charge of operating after license revocation and a marked lanes violation. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant, an officer said.

A 3:02 p.m. report of a domestic dispute between a mother and her two young daughters at 36 Village Road resulted in the arrest of Susan Kenney, 47, of the same address, on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
