An officer on patrol near 55 Ober St. at 6:35 p.m. found that approximately a dozen picnic tables had been turned upside down and one had been “thrown into the water by the snack bar.”
A 6:52 p.m. report of a woman crying at 375 Rantoul St. resulted in the arrest of Eric Gray, 32, of the same address, on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
A report of a disabled motor vehicle brought police to 112 Elliott St., where they determined that the man had pulled over to the side of the road to wait for the rain to slow down. “I advised him to pull into a nearby parking lot to wait it out,” an officer wrote.
Police received a 5:05 a.m. report that a man was living out of a camper at Porter and School streets. “Unable to locate owner,” police wrote. “Camper quiet and parked in a legal spot at this time.”
Officers responded to a 9:26 a.m. report that a woman at 245 Elliott St. was calling for help. “Party fell, unable to get up,” police wrote. She was transported to Beverly Hospital.
Police received an 8:48 a.m. report that a man with a beard and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt was “staggering around” in the area of the playground near Fisher and Windsor avenues. An officer determined later: “Person lives in area.”
Police responded to a 9:30 p.m. report of a domestic dispute at 32 Gallows Hill Road and determined that a mother was arguing with her son over her having sold a car without consulting him first.
A 10:15 p.m. report that a woman on Lemon Street was refusing to pay a taxi fare resulted in the arrest of Sara Whittredge, 36, of 9 Woodbury Court, Salem, on charges of evading a taxi fare, assault and battery, and malicious destruction of property under $250. She was also wanted on a warrant, according to the log.
