Police received a 1:54 p.m. report that a coin purse had been stolen from a person on Lincoln Avenue and arrested John Hatt, 21, of 9 Fairview Road, Apt. A, Marblehead, on charges of larceny from a person and breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. Hatt was also wanted on a warrant, according to the log.
A Stonybrook Road resident reported at 2:20 p.m. that a youth “keeps banging on the door and then running away.”
A woman and two men were smashing furniture during “some sort of dispute” on Broughton Road, according to a 3:04 p.m. report, but police were unable to locate them.
A vehicle on Winthrop Avenue had its sunroof smashed and items stolen, according to a 9:18 a.m. report.
A 10:26 a.m. report that a woman was passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle brought police to Washington and Prospect streets, where they determined she’d been involved in an accident. The unidentified woman was taken to Salem Hospital and will be cited on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, operating to endanger and negligent operation, according to the log.
Police received a 10:38 a.m. report that somebody on Franklin Street was creating noise while on a vehicle. An officer wrote later: “Noisy part was taking off the tires. Will be quiet for the rest of the work.”
There were crushed Cheerios and peas on the floor of the post office lobby on Smith Street, according to a 12:43 p.m. report.
A Lee Street caller reported at 5:30 p.m. that a “midget of a man” had been driving around town with his Ferrari or Lamborghini in first drive “just so he can hear the pipes,” according to the log. “Caller does not want to hear the pipes all summer in this nice town,” wrote police.
