Woman charged with threatening a witness

SALEM — A 39-year-old Lynn woman known on the street as "Mama Deuce" has been charged with trying to intimidate a witness out of testifying in a violent domestic assault case.

Elizabeth Cushman is being held on $2,500 cash bail, charged with one count of witness intimidation in the case against reputed "Deuce Boys" leader Raymundo Henriquez, 26.

Henriquez is charged in connection with a rampage inside a Salem apartment that left a 6-year-old girl with serious eye injuries after a punch intended for the girl's mother landed on the girl instead.

Prosecutors say that while being held in custody, Henriquez has made calls to the key witness in the case, threatening her if she testifies.

Last month, Salem police also charged Cushman with making calls to the witness, including one that went to voice mail. Cushman allegedly left a message that referred to the witness as a "snitch (expletive)."

A Salem District Court judge noted Cushman's history of firearms charges in setting the bail.

Cushman is due back in court on June 17.

The Deuce Boys, or "Boyz," is a Lynn-based street gang that has allegedly been involved in drug and firearms crimes on the North Shore.

Cushman's precise role in the organization is not clear.
