---- — SALEM — Don’t throw out that Christmas tree.
Save it for the 10th annual Christmas tree bonfire at Dead Horse Beach in Salem Willows on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Beginning Wednesday, residents can drop the trees off at the beach or drag them out to the curb for trucks to pick them up. Residents can also bring trees with them Friday night. The city has asked that all decorations and lights be removed.
Residents who attend will also enjoy music and free hot chocolate. The event is sponsored by the Park and Recreation Department and The Gathering at Salem, a local church.
If weather is an issue, the bonfire will be moved to Saturday. For updated information, check www.salem.com.
For anyone who holds on to their tree a little longer, the city will do another curbside collection the week of Jan. 7-11.
