Contest to pick 'North Shore Star'

---- — BEVERLY — A singing competition hosted by the Beverly Rotary Club and North Shore Music Theatre will determine the title of “North Shore Star.”

The competition will be held for the fifth time on Friday, March 1, from 6 to 11 p.m. at Danversport Yacht Club in Danvers. The event will include a silent and live auction, a full-course dinner, and the competition featuring 16 vocalists.

A panel of three professional theater and entertainment judges will select the winner, who will receive cash and other prizes.

All proceeds from the event will support The Beverly Rotary Foundation scholarship and charity endowment.

Interested vocalists are asked to audition on Monday, Jan. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. at North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly. To sign up, contact Tom Rosa at 781-662-1965 or tomrosa@live.com.

Participants must be at least 16 years old, have singing experience and live in the Boston area.

Tickets for the North Shore Star event are $75 per person and include appetizers, full-course dinner, dessert and the show. Reserved tables of eight are available for $600.
