---- — SALEM — The city’s new electric vehicle-charging stations are up and running.
Eight stations — four each in the Museum Place and South Harbor garages — were installed this winter thanks to a grant from the state Department of Energy Resources.
Salem was one of 25 communities, and the only on the North Shore, selected for the grant program.
For the next two years, the city will allow electric vehicles to charge at the garage stations for no cost. According to the city, the stations will fully charge an electric vehicle in four to six hours.
